    Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming many fields, including public ministry, offering tools that can reshape the way pastoral work is carried out, while maintaining its theological essence. This thesis explores how pastors can effectively leverage AI as an associate to enhance their focus on the ministry of Word and prayer. This digital associate can be used by pastors in a variety of smart ways. By integrating models such as SAMR and principles like Mollick’s “Always Invite AI to the Table,” this study identifies practical applications of AI in sermon preparation, pastoral education, and administrative tasks through tools like Church.Tech, Otter.ai, and Educaide.ai. It emphasizes that AI is not a replacement but a complement to pastoral duties, aligning with a Confessional Lutheran understanding of adapting technology for gospel ministry. The paper ultimately aims to provide a framework for pastors to engage AI meaningfully and theologically in their ministry today.
