Betrothal

Abstract

In this letter, Paul Kretzmann disagrees with an opinion released by the St. Louis Seminary on the matter of betrothal. The point of controversy here is whether betrothal constitutes marriage - A conclusion that the Seminary faculty would deny, but one that Kretzmann seems to support. As such, although this letter doesn’t represent both sides of the argument fairly, it does explain well one side of this difficult question.
