Abstract

This essay was written as a part of a series of sermons based on the article on election from the Formula of Concord. The work that a pastor does for a sermon reaches many each week. Yet, not all the material that a pastor has from a certain text through thorough study should be used. Habeck makes that point clear in this study of Ephesians. There have been many pages of material produced about the doctrine of election. In the sermon, it is essential to stick to the truths of God’s Word. In that way Lutherans honor their confessional background.
