The Place of Women in the Life and Work of the Church
Abstract
Adam spoke highly of woman the first time he saw her, “Bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh.” The writer of Proverbs 31 sings the praises of the godly wife and mother. In fact, “Her price is above rubies.” God has indeed given a high calling to women. He has given them a calling that moved women like Lois and Eunice who taught Timothy, or like Lydia who was an example of generosity for the entire Philippian congregation. However, God has also placed restrictions concerning women’s activity in the church. But through these restrictions God has given them specific, yet great, spiritual tasks.
