Create In Me a Clean Heart, O God! A Sermon Study on Psalm 51:10-12
Abstract
There is a beautiful connection between Psalm 51 and Article II of the Formula of Concord. Article II rejects Melanchthon’s doctrine on synergism that man is free to accept or reject God’s grace. However, in Psalm 51, King David presents the doctrine of original sin and the doctrine of justification by grace alone clearly. David can only plead, “Have mercy on me, O God.” With helpful word studies, Gawrisch offers his reader a text study with a sermon outline included.
