Frederick William August Notz: His Influence on Northwestern College

Abstract

This paper gives a detailed overview of Professor Notz’s life especially his time as Inspector at Northwestern College. The paper recounts stories, classes, and Notz’s character and influence on the education system of the Wisconsin Synod. The appendix includes a translation of Notz’s “The Essentials of an Evangelical Lutheran Gymnasium.”
