Martin Luther, God's Music Man

Abstract

This essay sketches what Luther thought about music, did with music and accomplished for music. It uses many Luther quotes and follows the history of the liturgy and hymnody in the early Lutheran church. In foil, the essay often examines other trends around the Reformation such as Calvin’s and Zwingli’s views on music in the church.
