The Dangers of Subjectivism and Its Influence on Our Theology and Church Life

Abstract

Subjectivism is dangerous because human thought and feeling become the rule and norm of what is good and right. Since subjectivism strikes at the core of Christian theology, Drews takes us back to the objective Scriptures which give us the truth as inspired by the Holy Spirit. He reminds us that justification is the forgiveness of sins and is an entirely objective declaration of God. From justification flows the life of sanctification. Drews goes on to demonstrate how subjectivism has historically affected the Lutheran Church and he even the shows the threat it can have on our synod.
