Panacea or Placebo? Psychology as Gospel

Abstract

The self esteem message can be dangerous because it blinds people to the reality of problems, particularly the problem of original sin. Often the problems are blamed on something else outside of the person’s control. How does the scriptural teacher answer a society that has heard it is doing just fine over and over? The teacher offers them the message of the Gospel.
